Bollywood acquires lots of attractions, but it also has its dark side as well. Since loads of film stars got fame and money from this industry but some of them didn’t retain the same as they become poor as they didn’t manage the fame smartly as well as fall in their career made it impossible to get the money and fame again. 1. Bhagwan Dada
Born in 1913 Bhagwan Abhaji Palav, is widely acknowledged as Bhagwan Dada and made his debut in Bollywood with the movie ‘Criminal.’ He is well-admired for his super hit film ‘Albela’ with famous actress Geeta Bali, one of the songs of the movie, i.e. ‘Sholajo bhadke’ is still well-liked by listeners. Bhagwan Dada lived a luxurious life and owned a waterfront bungalow with 25 rooms in Juhu and a beautiful collection of seven cars which were kept for an alternative use for seven days. , However, after his downfall in movies like ‘Jhamela’ and ‘Labela’, all his dreams shattered. He left producing and directing, and sold his properties because of his financial conditions and lived in chawl for rest of his life. He accepted whatever role he was offered for that didn’t help him in gaining success again. A friend in need is a friend indeed; Bhagwan dada also had C. Ramchandra, Om Prakash and lyricist Rajinder Krishan who continued meeting him even in his bad times where his other connections stopped meeting him. On 04th of February 2002, Bhagwan dada died at his residence in Dadar because of a massive heart attack.
2. Bharat Bhushan
Bharat Bhushan, an Indian actor and producer, best remembered for his character Baiju Bawra in the movie “Baiju Bawra” which was released in 1952. He acted in Hindi movies till the 1990s and judged amongst greatest legends of Bollywood. In 1954 he got Filmfare award in best actor category for the movie Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Through his superb acting skills, he received a lot of fame, name and money. Bharat Bhushan had various apartments in Mumbai, but he didn’t save his assets and money and spent all his money that led to his breakdown and downfall. In his last years, he had to live in a dirty chawl and had to labour as a watchman in one of a movie studio as well as he acted in little roles in tele series as well as small budget films in his last days. He breathed his last breath in a rented residence in 1992. He is still appreciated and honoured by the all for the great movies and songs that he presented regardless of personal misfortunes as well as firm contest from his counterparts.
3. K. Hangal
Avtar Kishan Hangal popularly recognized as A.K. Hangal acted as a character artist in Hindi movies from 1966–2005. He played some marvellous characters in movies like Aaina, Shaukeen, Namak Haraam, Sholay and many more. His dialogue ‘Itna sannata kyu hai Bhai?’ from movie Sholay is still remembered by viewers. He has acted in around 225 Hindi films in his film career. Due to his age, he found it hard to meet his medicinal expenses. His son Vijay also faced financial difficulties consequently in his last days Hangal battled severe scarcity of finance and went insolvent. After actor Amitabh Bachchan came to be familiar with Hangal’s condition he bestowed Rs 20 lakh for his medical treatment. He died in 2012 due to the chest and respiratory problems at the age of 98 in a hospital in Santa Cruz, Mumbai.
4. Geetanjali Nagpal
Geetanjali who was once a well-known ramp model in 1990s and walked the ramp for various famous designers was seen begging in South Delhi streets in 2007. When Geetanjali Nagpal buzzed down catwalks, it emerged as if everything was in her grip. She had the style, looks, as well as the sound background to go with however she as well had the aptitude to self-destruct, since the daughter of a former Navy Officer, Geetanjali was allegedly greatly dependent on drinks and drugs. Achala Sachdev initiated her career in her early days, but she got recognition for her role in movies like ‘Waqt’ (wife of Balraj Sahni) in which the super hit song “Ae Meri Zohra Jabeen” was mainly picturized on her and ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge). 5 years previous to her demise, she bestowed her flat to a charitable group “Janseva Foundation” with the condition that they will look after her since she doesn’t have any family support. In 2011, she lost her balance in her kitchen and suffered from a severe fracture in her leg. Afterwards, she was analyzed with manifold embolisms in her brain, which resulted in paralysis and full loss of vision. At the age of 91 in 2012, she expired in a hospital in Pune. She acted in around 130 movies, but besides all these movies in her bag she died in poor financial conditions.
